Ilkin & Mete

Specialist medical school interview tutoring

One-to-one MMI and panel interview preparation from medical students at UCL and the University of Bristol.

Our statement

We are two medical students, from the University of Bristol and UCL, offering personalised, specialist preparation for UK medical school interviews.

Why we set this up

Generic online material and tutoring can only take a candidate so far, and rarely help them stand out. Tutors at larger agencies often work with many students at once, usually over a short period.

We set up Ilkin & Mete to offer something more specialist. We take on fewer students and give each one our time. Our single focus: helping them perform as well as they possibly can, at interview and beyond.

How we teach

Each student receives tailored sessions that go beyond what general guides can offer. We explore interview topics in real depth, from medical ethics and the NHS to communication skills and motivation for medicine.

Our aim is for students to walk confidently into their interviews understanding the material, rather than reciting it, so they can reason clearly through any question they are asked.

Why us

Between us, we have interviewed at 8 medical schools and received 6 offers. We both scored in the top 6% of the UCAT, and we bring over 450 hours of teaching experience, from small-group tuition to one-to-one GCSE and A-Level Maths.

We value the relationships we build with our students. As we progress through our own training, we hope to stay in touch, offering mentorship, guidance through medical school, and advice on specialty portfolios and research publications.

UCL Medicine: 3rd Year UCAT: top 5% A*A*A*A*A*
I’m Ilkin, a 3rd year medical student at UCL, currently completing an intercalated BSc in Medical Anthropology. As a future psychiatrist, I plan to pioneer culturally specific therapies and international knowledge exchange.

I scored 3000 in the UCAT (top 5%) and received offers from UCL and Southampton. Through time-optimisation and structured preparation, I achieved top 16 in Biology Olympiad, 11 grade 9s at GCSE, and A*A*A*A*A* at A-Level.

I have taught over 150 hours in small groups, at a tuition centre and in A-Level Maths and Chemistry, and spent many hours mentoring presenters at the Medical Discussion Group I founded at my college. Realising how alive I felt while teaching, I expanded into mentoring students through medical school interviews.

Over 15 months travelling in the Middle East and South Asia, I communicated with thousands of people from all walks of life. The experience and intuition I gained allow me to give honest, specific feedback on areas teachers and friends may have missed. Together, we will build custom resources and plans for every area of your preparation.

Let’s collaborate in your success!

University of Bristol: 3rd year UCAT: top 6% A*AAA
I’m Mete, a third-year medical student at the University of Bristol, with an ambition to become a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon.

I scored 2960 in the UCAT (Band 1, top 6%) and received offers from Bristol, Sheffield and Liverpool. At Bristol, I scored 89/100 in my end-of-year exams (top 5% cohort commendation) and was awarded the top prize for the Student Choice Essay. Previously, I achieved ten grade 9s at GCSE and A*AAA at A-Level.

I have delivered over 300 hours of GCSE and A-Level Maths tutoring. Medical interview tutoring allows me to combine that teaching experience with my own recent application, offering students the committed, personal support every applicant deserves.

My sessions focus on understanding over memorisation, encouraging students to think out loud to build clear, structured reasoning. Above all, I make sure every student feels confident and well prepared.

If you are looking for a tutor invested in your success, I would love to hear from you.
